Would you buy property with 12 total strangers to hack the cost of housing? π‘
π’ One lady in North Vancouver did exactly that. Heidi Woodley had a dream to own a cottage in Horseshoe Bay, one of Canada’s priciest areas.
π Oddly enough, a property with EIGHT cottages came up for sale at $3.8 million. Instead of buying it alone, Heidi gathered a dozen strangers and an intriguing investor to make the purchase! π€―
π΅ Now these strangers are her neighbors, living on the property with her. But none of this would’ve been possible without Alan Carpenter, a 70-year-old who raised $2.5 million for the project. Alan, despite not living there, was so passionate about supporting Heidi that he went to his friends and family for funding.
π£ The story gets even more interesting when you realize Alan’s impressive background. From being the Director of the Canadian Cohousing Network for 32 years to managing the Cohousing Investment Equity Fund for the past 30 years! π²
π So, would you live in a co-housing development to save on housing costs, or is it too weird for you?
