Small businesses have taken a big hit during the pandemic. As the first year of COVID-19 comes to an end, it becomes more important to support local businesses that make our Clayton Heights and Cloverdale community what it is.

To help out some top local restaurants, we have created a list of delivery and take out options available that we highly recommend to anyone living in or moving to the area should try.

Clayton has already seen a few great restaurants close temporarily like Salty’s Fish & Chips, Clubhouse at Fraser Downs, and the Hillcrest Memphis Blues. Because so many restaurants are being lost it has become more important to support and save our local favorites. Without neighborhood restaurants the community would not be what it is today.

Clayton Heights Restaurants

There are many great restaurants still available in Clayton Heights. Below are a few of our top recommended restaurants for take out and delivery.

The Vault

Located in the heart of Cloverdale The Vault is an American classics restaurant with a retro vibe. The Vault is available for take out and small table dining.

Rusty’s Pub

Rusty’s Pub serves up American pub style food in the Cloverdale neighborhood with takeout and social distancing space available. You can also order Rusty’s directly to your door through the Uber Eats app for a small fee.

Original Joe’s

Available on the Skip the Dishes app, Original Joes offers socially distanced dine in and take out. Available in Brick Yard and at Fraser Crossing Original Joe’s offers two locations to cover most of the Surrey area for delivery.

Atlas Steakhouse

A new restaurant that was introduced to the Langley area right before the pandemic, Atlas Steakhouse offers distanced seated dining and take out steak and seafood meals by Cascades Casino. Food can be ordered through the Uber Eats app.

The Clayton Public House

The Clayton Public House is a restaurant by day and local bar by night. Bars have taken a particularly hard hit because of Covid, however, local favorites like The Clayton have learned to change business models and offer greater options to help keep them afloat while they make it through the multiple closures.

Dublin Crossing Irish Pub

Another great business changing its model is Dublin Crossing Irish Pub. Offering up pub food, meal kits, grocery items, and homemade ice cream, Dublin Crossing is located in Clayton Heights and has been a large part of the neighborhood offering Irish Pub fare.

Haven

Haven Langley is a new restaurant that unfortunately started opening as the pandemic began. Luckily, the community saw the benefit of having such a great unique restaurant in the area and banned together to keep Haven going while they navigated their opening date around several forced closures and health rules. With great new food options Haven is open for delivery on Door Dash, for touch less pick up or for patio dining.

Showshaa

Located at South Surrey and on Scott Road, Showshaa is a great Indian restaurant and taproom available for pickup or delivery on Door Dash.

Clayton Heights Coffee shops

Black Tiger

Located in Clayton, Black Tiger Coffee offers delivery on Door Dash for breakfast and lunch. The Call Corbin team highly recommends getting a Homer doughnut with your order.

Republica Coffee

Republica Coffee Roasters is located in Cloverdale for take out and for coffee ground purchases.

Wendels

While Wendels is located a bit further out in the Fort Langley area, the coffee shop is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great cup of coffee.

Coffee Monster

Available for take out in South Surrey, Coffee Monster is a local coffee shop favorite that is a must-try for any local who hasn’t been able to check it out yet.

The App Ordering Dilemma

Skip the Dishes and other food ordering apps charge a fee to place an order as well as a fee to the restaurant that is up to 30% of the order price. While allowing people to order seamlessly, these apps are cutting into local business profits and making it harder for restaurants to stay afloat. If you have the time, the community may greatly benefit from using contactless pick up instead of delivery app ordering.

Skip the Dishes has also added a new BC fee to cover commission caps put in place to help restaurants. The cap was introduced to help restaurants recoup some costs.

Support The Local Surrey Food Order App

A few local Surrey restaurants have partnered together to bring a local food ordering app that does not charge the restaurant a fee that is detrimental to their bottom line. While the app is not as connected as that of Uber Eats, Skip the Dishes, or Door Dash the Surrey App allows locals to order from restaurants in the area for a low fee and no charge to the restaurant.

Check it out to see if your home is available to order from the new Surrey App. The team at Call Corbin helps families in Surrey find their dream home and their dream home and their dream neighborhood. We believe your home’s location is just as important as your home. If you have any questions about the Clayton or Cloverdale area or finding your perfect Clayton heights homes please get in touch.
